Pro-admin rally set in Rizal Park (10:32 a.m.)

MANILA -- Organizers of a rally in support of beleaguered President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo set Saturday afteroon at the historic Rizal Park hope to gather a bigger crowd than those who attended a massive anti-Arroyo protest action led by the opposition last Wednesday in Makati City.

Malacañang however said President Arroyo may or may not attend the rally.

The police will deploy hundreds of personnel at the park to secure the rally and the participants as the Palace urged organizers to keep the activity peaceful and orderly.

The Manila City Government supports Arroyo while the mayor of Makati City, Jejomar Binay, is a staunch oppositionist. This explains why all anti-Arroyo rallies in the past have been held in Makati City, the financial district of the country. (Sunnex)
