President Arroyo enters Congress halls
MANILA (Uploaded at 3:58 p.m..) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo walked into the halls of Congress and to her way to the podium where she is to give her second State-of-the-Nation Address since her election in May 2004.
She was wearing a green terno, said to be a recycled gown owned by her late mother, Evangeline Macapagal, wife of the late President Diosdado Macapagal, father of President Arroyo.
She entered the halls amid clapping and loud background music and was flanked by Senate President Franklin Drilon and House Speaker Jose de Venecia.
The session was called to order by Drilon and de Venecia.
It is her second speech on the state of the nation following her election to the highest position in government in May 2004.
Members of the Liberal Party were among those seen in the Batasan halls where President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to give her address to the nation.
The Liberal Party, a part of the administration coalition, early this month asked Arroyo to resign because she allegedly has lost her moral ascendancy to lead the nation following her admission that she spoke with an election official about rigging results of the May 2004 elections. (Sunnex)
