CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Around 10 suicide bombers from Indonesia are suspected to be in the country and some of them are in Mindanao, military intelligence sources revealed Thursday.

Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno and the League of Mayors in the Philippines-Misamis Oriental (LMP-MisOr) president and Tagoloan Mayor Yevygeny "Bambi" Emano have laid some ground rules to help "quell" the threat to the province.

A military intelligence report revealed that 10 suicide attackers from Indonesia have reportedly entered the country and are in Mindanao.

"They could be trying to acquire explosives for attacks in the country," the report sent to Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro reads.

The same report was made by National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales who said that such information was passed to security officials who accompanied Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his recent visit to Manila.

Gonzales said at least one other Asian country has issued the same warning, however, he did not identify which country.

"We are informed that up to 10 Indonesians may have crossed the border and are now in the country," said Gonzales. "There is an effort to acquire materials, position and personnel."

Meanwhile, Moreno said, "We are doing everything to quell any terrorist threat as these are things we cannot really determine even London and the United States have been hit by these attacks."

"We have now fortified our defenses and I am confident that our police and military can handle everything professionally."

The governor also added that anti-insurgency programs like projects that would bring the government closer to the people and address the root cause of the insurgency are now being intensified.

Moreno said they are now making sure that checkpoints are stricter as he asked for the people to understand the current security situation.

Misamis Oriental Provincial Executive Assistant Teddy Sabuga-a said after the bombing in Zamboanga last Friday, Moreno immediately met with Provincial Director Lyndell Desquitado and Colonel Francisco Colina to be updated on the situation and to coordinate their acts.

He said checkpoints are now fortified and even the members of the LMP-MisOr under the younger Emano have agreed to conduct mini-checkpoints on their own respective municipalities.
