City execs disturbed by cybersex site By Dante M. Fabian
ANGELES CITY -- The use of Angeles City's name in an internet website promoting sex in nightspots in the city's entertainment district has pushed officials to initiate legal action in order to save the city from indignation and degradation of its women.
In a radio interview, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin ordered an investigation of the use of the city's name in a porn website and the subsequent removal of the city's name in website.
Lawyer Arvin Suller of the City Legal Office has been tasked to act on reports that the city's name has been used by unscrupulous persons in the prostitution of women, said Irish Calaguas, City Information officer.
A text message sent to a radio station stated that a website in the Internet that features a guide to pornographic materials and prostitution in bars and hotels in Balibago along with other Philippine cities and other countries.
Calaguas has endorsed the mayor's instructions to Suller in an official communication transmitted to the City Legal Office. She said the mayor ordered Suller to immediately conduct an investigation and submit the results within three days.
The online publication came amid the Lazatin government's preparations for this year's Sisig Festival, which is among several other events organized to cleanse the "sin city" image earned by the city during the decades of American military occupation of Clark Air Base.
Lazatin embarked programs focusing on the Kapampangan arts and culture as the primary attractions for tourists. He launched the Sisig Festival to provide a venue to highlight the city's rich culture and traditions in an effort to shed off the sin city image.
City officials are now in the thick of preparations for the celebration of the 176th founding anniversary of the city.
This year's festival was dubbed as "176 Ways Of Cooking Sisig" which will present 176 different ways and recipes of the world famous Kapampangan meat delicacy called "sisig."(Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
