Solon denies coddling most wanted man By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- Compostela Valley Representative Manuel "Way Kurat" Zamora denied reports that he is coddling murder suspect Nelson "Tata" Sala.
Sala was placed in the most wanted list of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the murder charge he is facing in court and for his involvement in the illegal mining activity in Diwalwal.
Zamora was reacting to a text message that circulated Friday identifying him as among the protectors of Sala, suspect in the killing of a foreigner years ago.
"I never saw Sala," Zamora said adding that his political enemies could be behind the text message.
The text message read, "coddler of wanted man Tata Sala is Congressman Way Kurat Zamora of 1st district ComVal Province, a well known metro aide of House of Representatives."
When asked who his suspects are, Zamora said it could possibly be the Brillanteses in Monkayo because Lito Brillantes, president of the JB Management and Mining Corporation (JBMMC), is planning to run for Congress this 2007.
"This is the only way for them to start destroying my name. Pero okay lang yan sa akin. Wala naman akong dapat ipangamba kasi di naman kami nagkikita ni Tata Sala (It's okay with me. I have nothing to fear because I am not seeing Tata Sala)," Zamora said.
Monkayo Mayor Manuel Brillantes Jr., however, denied Zamora's insinuation saying they are not the ones behind the black propaganda against the congressman.
Brillantes also denied that his older brother Lito is planning to run for a congressional seat in 2007.
"Buti pa sya alam nya," was all Brillantes could say on Zamora's insinuation. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
