2 senators deny talking to Garci (1:30 p.m.)
MANILA -- Senators Panfilo Lacson and Alfredo Lim, who were both named by former Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano as among those who called him during the 2004 elections, denied calling or knowing the poll official.
Lacson in a television interview said he already told his counsel to prepare perjury charges against Garcillano.
"I never called him or set up an appointment with him," Lacson said.
Lacson said he expected Garcillano to lie under oath. "Nakaka-high blood," Lacson said over Garcillano's statements.
The senator said he learned from his sources that a certain Atty. Reyes and Robert Bello visited Garcillano Monday night in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.
According to Lacson it was in that meeting that the story attempting to implicate him to cheating was concocted.
In a separate interview, Senator Lim denied having called Garcillano.
"Hindi ko siya natawagan, I do not know his phone number. Gulagulat ako why my name was mentioned,"
Vice Presidential candidate Loren Legarda also denied calling Garcillano or any Comelec official before, during and after the elections.
"I did not call Garcillano or any other Comelec official. It is just unfortunate that my name was included in the list of personalities. I don't even know him," Legarda said.(Sunnex)
