Ong ready to appear before House and Senate (1:00 p.m.)
MANILA -- Former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) director Samuel Ong said he is ready to appear before the House inquiry on the wiretapping controversy Wednesday afternoon and even before the Senate.
Ong was in hiding after a warrant of arrest has been issued against him for the criminal cases filed by Department of Justice.
He said he was prompted to appear before the House inquiry despite threats of getting arrested after he saw former Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano peddling lies about the wiretapping controversy.
"Nagngingitngit ako," Ong said before reporters he called for a press conference in an undisclosed place.
The former NBI official said he is ready to present the four master tapes containing the supposed conversation between Garcillano and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.(Sunnex)
