Oakwood mutiny leader escapes (3:55 p.m.)

MANILA - A junior officer linked to the Oakwood mutiny two years ago escaped from his military escorts Wednesday morning.

Members of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) escorted the Oakwood mutiny leaders for a scheduled hearing at the Makati Regional Trial Court.

Military escorts failed to account for Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon when the group was about the leave the court after the scheduled hearing was postponed.

He was one of the 26 Magdalo soldiers who joined the July 2003 mutiny at the Oakwood Premier apartments in Makati City.

Faeldon left a video citing the reason for his escape.

"President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is corrupt and ruthless. She will do anything to remain in power," he said. (Sunnex)
