Jan. 2, Monday, regular workday
MALACAÑANG and the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) announced Monday that January 2, 2006 will be a regular working day, contrary to earlier announcements that it will be a non-working day.
Palace officials said only December 30-31, 2005 and January 1, 2006 are holidays, which are enough to enable people to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones.
"January 2 will be a working day for our workers," said Labor Undersecretary Danilo Cruz.
The Palace earlier declared December 24 and 26, 2005 as non-working days, but Dole Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas had announced that January 2, 2006 would also be a non-working day.
Sto. Tomas added that employees working on the special non-working days would receive an additional 30 percent of their salary. (JMRSunnex)
