RP still the most dangerous country for journalists: report (1:13 p.m.)

MANILA -- The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has declared the Philippines as the "most dangerous" nation in the Asia-Pacific region for journalists with the killing of 10 reporters last year.

The IFJ also said the Philippines ranked second to Iraq in the list of most dangerous places for journalists worldwide.

The IFJ said 89 journalists were slain "in the line of duty" by those hired by political gangs or criminals and that more than 90 percent of the cases do not result in thorough investigation by the police with only a few of the killers caught. (Sunnex)
