Stricter rules on events implemented in Manila (10:49 a.m.)

MANILA -- Following the Ultra stampede that killed 74 people mostly elderly women last Saturday, the Manila City Government has imposed stringent regulations on events to be held in the city.

A radio station dzMM report quoted Manila Police District Pedro Bulaong as saying that organizers of any event to be held in public places in Manila must secure permits from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the City Health Office (CHO), among other government offices.

Chief Superintendent Bulaong said the stricter rules and crowd control measures took effect and were implemented last Sunday night when a rally led by by visiting evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham was held at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park and ABS-CBN launched its Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition at the Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard. (Sunnex)
