Relatives identify 5 bodies found in Carmen highway By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- The five bodies found along the highway in Carmen, Davao del Norte on Friday have already been identified, but police have remained clueless as to who killed them and why.
The bodies were identified to be that of Rosita Rellera Encarnacion, 51, ukay-ukay trader, married and a resident of Purok 5, Sto. Niño in Tibungco, Davao City; Rodrigo Encarnacion Benaneng of Bayugan Uno, Tibungco; Renario Laag Calamba, taxi driver from Tibungco; and the remaining two were only identified as alias Belen and alias Raul.
Rellera was positively identified by her son, Brian, while Encarnacion was identified by his brother Gaudencio. Laag meanwhile was positively identified by his uncle, Pedro Laag. It was learned that the four victims are from Tibungco while the other one was from Agusan.
Four of the victims were discovered Friday morning stacked on top of the other while a fifth one was found a few feet away, and each with a single bullet wound in the head.
Their heads were covered with packing tapes and their hands were tied with wires.
Jessie Earl Miller discovered the bodies of two females and three males at around 7:30 a.m. in Purok 19, Barangay Ising.
Residents, upon hearing the news about the bodies, admitted hearing a single gunshot at around 2 a.m. Friday.
Scene of the crime operative Romeo Obero said it is possible that one of the victims was still alive when brought to the area.
Most likely, Obrero said, it was the female who was found a few meters from the four bodies.
Skid marks of a vehicle were also seen at the crime scene.
Obero said they have not found a single piece of evidence from the place because the bodies were already brought to the Villa Funeral Homes in Panabo when they arrived. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
