Arrests without warrant may be done under emergency state: Palace (2:07 p.m.)

MANILA -- Presidential chief of staff Michael Defensor said Friday that warrantless arrests may be resorted to, if needed, under a state of emergency declared by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Defensor, in explaining the scope of the state of emergency, also said all rally permits have been revoked and a takeover by government of utilities may be done also.

Media companies may also be taken over by the government "kung kitang kumikiling sa kabila (if they are siding with the enemies)" until needed. (Sunnex)
