Estrada stays at San Juan hospital: Malacaņang (9:40 a.m.)

MANILA -- Malacaņang Palace announced Friday that former President Joseph Estrada will not anymore be brought back to his resthouse in Tanay, Rizal.

The police was earlier ordered to bring Estrada back to Tanay following reports of an imminent coup against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Thus, Estrada's scheduled operation on his left eye will push through at 7 p.m. Friday.

An estimated 5,000 supporters of the deposed President have gathered and barricaded the entrance to the San Juan Medical Center (SJMC) where Estrada is staying to prevent his transfer. (Sunnex)
