MANILA -- Professor Randy David and two other companions were apprehended Friday while spearheading a march rally in Santolan, Quezon City.
David said he and his group were holding a rally peacefully and were supposed to go to the Edsa Shrine in Ortigas Center as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first People Power revolt when they their rally was dispersed and he was accosted by plainclothesmen along with Rolando Llamas and Argee Guevarra.
The reason for the arrests was unclear but National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) head Vidal Querol said he believes that they were nabbed for holding a rally without a permit.
All rally permits had been revoked by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo after she declared a state of national emergency.
