CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Authorities have now identified suspects in the brutal twin murders of Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno's relatives Manuel Natindim and Marlon Roa.

The cartographic sketches of the assailants are to be released either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Congratulations to the graduates of 2006! Post your graduation experiences and greetings here.

Moreno met Monday with Northern Mindanao Police Regional Director Florante Baguio, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Director Lyndel Desquitado, and 8th IB Commander Andrelino Colina.

Baguio and Desquitado said their teams have tracked down those who were behind the murders of Natindim and Roa.

They said witnesses, who have identified five to six suspects, are cooperating with police in the preparation of the cartographic sketches.

Baguio said the suspects are believed to be from the Lanao areas but police could not reveal their names to avoid jeopardizing ongoing operations.

He said they believe the suspects are actually "either friends or mere acquaintances" of Natindim and Roa.

"But we still need more witnesses to come out and testify," he said.

Desquitado assured the governor they are doing everything they can to locate the suspects.

Moreno said he would not interfere in any way with the investigation.

"I hope and pray that the investigation will be over and done with and the ones responsible will be brought to the bar of justice," Moreno said.

Natindim and Roa were found dead and buried along with their green Pajero vehicle in a shallow grave on a steep ravine at the boundary of Barangay Landa, Baloi, Lanao del Norte last week.

Natindim and Roa are Provincial Capitol employees from Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

Authorities, along with Moreno and Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Dimaporo, created a region-wide task force to solve the crime.

Police are looking into several angles like carnapping, especially since Natindim and Roa's Pajero's plate number had been replaced with another one.

They are also considering reports that the two victims were involved in a drug deal or that they earlier ran over a resident from the Lanao areas and were killed for it.

"I will be the last person to step into the investigation," Moreno said.

The initial autopsy report from Dr. Tommy Uy of the National Bureau of Investigation in Northern Mindanao revealed that Roa was stabbed twice at the lower part of his back and shot twice at the chest. One of the bullets came out through his back.

The other bullet was retrieved from the body and it was reportedly one from a 9mm caliber pistol. Roa was also found shot on his neck.

Natindim was found to have been fatally shot on the head and the bullet exited through his mouth. (Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
