Digos bus bombing suspects nabbed By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- Two men who allegedly participated in the bombing of a parked Weena bus unit in Digos City last March 29 were arrested by authorities in Davao City on Black Saturday.
The suspects were collared Saturday noon in Barangay Tibungco for selling bomb components.
Arrested by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group were Golao Bawa and Ahadi Alian.
The suspects reportedly denied participation in the bus bombing in Digos City where seven people were hurt.
But police claimed to have seized 14 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and 60 pieces of blasting caps from the two men.
Police also confirmed that the two have been subjects of surveillance even before the bombing incident. Their arrest came after two months of surveillance.
It was not yet clear, however, if the evidence linking the two to the Weena bus bombing is strong.
Unconfirmed reports said the bomb-making materials found in the suspects' possession were the same components in the explosive used on the Weena bus.
Charges of illegal possession of explosives would be filed against the suspects Monday. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
