2 men executed by two killers on motorcycle
CEBU CITY -- Two men were shot dead by suspected vigilantes along the south highway of Cebu City Thursday night.
The investigating team from the Homicide Section found Vincent Amancio, 20, and Richardo Lopez, 18, sprawled on the ground after they were gunned down at 10:30 p.m.
The two were reportedly sitting by the roadside talking when a motorcycle with two men on board arrived.
The passenger got off and then shot Amancio twice.
Amancio, who was found in the pathway leading to the interior portion of Highway Tagunol, was wounded in the back and head.
A witness told police that Lopez tried to run for safety, but the gunman shot him, causing him to slump on the roadside.
The gunman then allegedly walked toward Lopez and pumped more bullets to his head and back to finish him off.
The man then allegedly boarded the motorcycle and it sped off, heading towards Cabreros Street.
The witness could not describe the gunman because he and the motorcycle driver were wearing cloth masks and crash helmets.
PO3 Roger Nedamo told Sun.Star Cebu Friday that residents in the area said Amancio, a known thief in Cogon Pardo, allegedly broke into houses.
No one could say though why the suspected vigilantes also attacked Lopez.
Nedamo said the two were friends, but they could not say if Lopez had any previous brushes with the law.
The team from the Homicide Section got help from the Scene of the Crime Operations (Soco) 7.
The Soco 7 recovered 10 empty shells that were fired from a .45 pistol.
Amancio repaired umbrellas for a living while Lopez made money as a trisikad driver.
Both were brought to the San Fernando Funeral Homes for autopsy. (MEA of Sun.Star Cebu)
