It will be up to Palace to decide on 'Da Vinci Code' showing in RP: justice (10:26 a.m.)
MANILA -- Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. said Malacañang will have
the final say on whether or not the controversial film "The Da Vinci Code" will be shown in the Philippines.
Gonzalez said the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is just another branch of Malacañang whose authority is limited to classifying a film.
However, he denied that Malacanang already has reached a decision if it would bar the film adaptation of Dan Brown'’s novel, which depicts Jesus Christ as being married to Mary Magdalene and started a sacred bloodline that still exists
in secret up to now.
Gonzalez said should the government find the movie "offensive" for public viewing, then it would ban the film, which has been rated Parental Guidance (PG)-13 in the US. (ECV) |
