Another execution: man killed while eating with wife, kids
CEBU CITY -- A man who was having dinner Monday night with his family was shot dead in a vigilante-style attack.
Two men wearing helmets and riding a motorcycle gunned down Jecknel Inso, 31, of Capitol Site, Cebu City from behind.
Inso died instantly. Homicide police, led by Senior Police Officer 1 Zenaido Pastorfide, found four gunshots wounds in his back.
The attack happened at about 8:15 p.m. while Inso was eating with his wife Janet, 31, and their two young children.
The family was at Janet's barbecue stand in front of the Cogon Ramos barangay hall.
Witnesses said they heard five gunshots. They also saw the two motorcycle-riding men.
Homicide police could not get more details from Janet yet as she was still in shock. They found four empty shells at the crime scene.
Edith Andrino, the mother of Inso's former live-in partner, confirmed that Inso spent five years in Cebu City jail for being a suspect in the killing of lawyer and broadcaster Geronimo "Boy" Creer in 1995.
Creer and his lover were stabbed to death by a man near the corner of Sanciangko and Pelaez Sts., Cebu City.
The charge against Inso was dismissed after the prosecution failed to present witnesses, Andrino said in a radio dySS report, although she was uncertain about details of the case.
More than 150 people have been killed in vigilante-style attacks since Dec. 22, 2004.
The police have few leads to pursue in most of the cases because of the reluctance of witnesses to come forward. (JST/CPG of Sun.Star Cebu)
