Arroyo claims credit for economic growth (10:23 a.m.)
MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said the 5.5 percent and 5.8 percent growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) and gross national product (GNP), respectively, are proof of the gains of her administration’s economic reforms.
Arroyo said business and consumer confidence remains solid and the manufacturing, construction, and exports sectors and private consumption of Filipino families are increasing.
She said she is focused on governance and the economy, particularly job creation and price stability, in order to uplift the lives of the people.
She also said she will continue to seek a common ground with Congress and other key sectors to move the country forward, “respectfully” disagree on issues where they cannot find a common ground, and lower the level of political noise. (JMR)
