Lawmaker told to explain missing pipes By Dante M. Fabian
ANGELES CITY -- Residents on Wednesday urged Representative Francis Nepomuceno to shed light on the alleged missing P12 million water pipes that were purchased from the lawmaker's funds last year.
They said Nepomuceno "should manifest cooperation and concern" in the reopening of the inquiry initiated by Mayor Carmelo Lazatin on the alleged missing water pipes.
"Nepomuceno should take note that the money they used to buy the water pipes were from our taxes. He must cooperate in the investigation to remove any doubts that the water pipes were sold for the sake of corrupt government officials and their people," said Renny del Rosario, a vendor at the Pampanga Public market.
"Besides, the lawmaker should give us health care which we direly need. Let the prominent local water district take care of itself. We die a little every time we buy expensive medicines," said Benny Santos of Barangay Amsic.
Nepomuceno failed to issue any statements concerning the water pipes that were reportedly distributed to almost all the 87 barangays in the province's first district but which several village officials denied receiving.
In an earlier radio interview, Nepomuceno said the alleged missing pipes were all accounted for.
But barangay leaders in Angeles City said residents were alarmed on Wednesday following the disclosure of four more village chiefs that they did not receive the water pipes that were reportedly intended for them.
Earlier, five other barangay leaders led by ABC president Efren de La Cruz told the mayor in response to his query that they did not receive the water pipes. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
