Palace hits communist group for 'doubletalk on peace efforts' (10:10 a.m.)
MANILA -- Malacañang has accused the National Democratic Front (NDF) of using the peace talks as a strategy to slow down the campaign against the New People'’s Army (NPA).
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said in a radio interview that the Armed Forces and PNP have always been reminded, despite the peace process, that the communist rebels may be trying to lull government into complacency.
"Ang kanilang (Their) objective is to topple this government. Kaya (That is why) we consider them as still the most serious threat to our national security,” he said.
He said the NDF should agree to a ceasefire if it is really sincere in pushing through with the peace talks. (JMR)
