All Filipinos ordered taken out of Lebanon (2:34 p.m.)

MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered on Wednesday the evacuation of all Filipinos from war-torn Lebanon.

The directive came after the latest developments in that Middle East country where bombings continue.

This, as the biggest batch of Filipino repatriates so far arrived Wednesday morning from Syria.

The 447 Filipino nationals who arrived were flown in from Damascus, Syria, where they were initially evacuated by the International Organization
for Migration (IOM). They were among the 1,000 stranded migrants earlier transported by the IOM from Beirut to Syria via land travel. (Sunnex)
