Filipino nearly killed in Lebanese attack in Haifa (10:35 a.m.)

MANILA -- A Filipino caregiver survived a rocket attack by Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon on Haifa in northern Israel Sunday (Monday in Manila).

In a television interview, Philippine Vice Consul Thaddeus Hamoy said the Filipino caregiver Christine Marie Gonzales, 26, of Makati City, called the embassy and asked to be brought to safety a rocket hit and destroyed a house beside her employer's home.

Hamoy said they are checking on other Filipino workers in northern Israel.

He described the devastation as "really frightening" because the house that was hit by the rocket was "totally destroyed." (Sunnex)
