Neighbor planned abduction: nanny By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- The nanny who took off last week with the two children of her former employers claimed the children's neighbor in NHA Bangkal instigated her to abduct the two kids.
Marivic Limikid further said she took the two siblings so her former employers will finally release her salary.
She claimed her employers have withheld her salary and that she sought the help of Alma, a neighbor.
It was Alma, she said, who told her to "abduct" Via Grace, 7, and Brylle Jun, 10, siblings and surnamed Imbo.
Limikid added that Alma even advised her to get the mobile phone number of the Imbos so she can contact the parents and demand money from them.
She said she has no other recourse but to say why she did it because Alma already talked with the parents of the children.
Grace, the children's mother, denied they withheld Limikid's salary, pointing out that she was not in their employ anymore.
Grace said Limikid instead merely asked to be allowed to stay with them after she resigned from her employer.
Limikid was the children's nanny for almost two years before resigning earlier this year after finding employment with another household also in the neighborhood.
On July 18, she asked the Imbos to allow her to live with them for a while because she resigned from her work.
"I agreed because she was close to us and the kids," Grace said.
But it was never agreed though that Limikid will be working with the Imbos again, and so no arrangement for a salary was ever made and Limikid was just getting free board.
Grace said she already has four relatives living with them and helping her with the household chores, which is why she did not need any more helpers.
Kidnapping charges will be filed against Limikid. However, it was not known whether the so-called "mastermind" will be included in the complaint.
Police rescued the two minors in a far-flung barangay in Maragusan, Compostela Valley last August 19, two days after they were fetched by Limikid from their school in Royal Valley, Bangkal, Davao City.
Grace and his husband Flaviano told police authorities that several people saw the kids being fetched by Limikid that afternoon.
Grace said Limikid did not physically harm the kids, but Via Grace was reportedly traumatized by the incident and was not able to eat the entire time they were with the suspect.
Grace said the nanny tricked the two kids into going with her by telling them that their mother had an accident in Tagum City.
"So when my kids thought I had an accident in Tagum, they immediately went with Marivic," Grace said. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
