Bridge collapses; 4 dead, 7 injured

DAVAO CITY -- At least four people were killed while seven others were wounded when a bridge collapsed just as a truck was passing through in Cateel, Davao Oriental on Monday.

The truck loaded with logs was on the Bailey bridge in Barangay Aliwagwag in Cateel, Davao Oriental when the bridge suddenly collapsed.

The truck, which is reportedly owned by Procopio Renomeron and driven by Bobby Sereño, was on its way to Compostela Valley to deliver its cargo.

Dead on the spot were Jarced Miguel, Joebert Amarillento, Pegie Ariego, and Joseph Samoyon.

Those injured were identified as Elnard Santiago, Jobert Dizon, Pablito Aballa, Crisanto Lingayao Jr., Arnold Aballa, Benanad Abella Jr., and Mario Teopiz. They were brought to the hospital for treatment. (BOT/With reports from Peng Aliño/Sun.Star Davao)
