Authorities tighten security on Sept. 11 anniversary (10:41 a.m.)

MANILA -- The PNP is on full alert for the fifth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the US.

A television report said security was tightened in vital installations, public transportation facilities, and public places, particularly in Metro Manila.

The military and police in Metro Manila have already been put on alert since Saturday when President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo left for a five-nation trip. She is expected to be back on September 17. (Sunnex)
