ALAMINOS CITY -- Unidentified persons shot to death a bank manager in front of his terrified family inside their house Sunday evening.

A bullet grazed the neck of one of the victim's sons and another banged his head on the wall when he fought with one of the perpetrators for possession of a gun.

City police chief Tito Dacpano said Rowel Narra, 51, died instantly from the gunshot wound on his chest.

Narra's 24-year-old son Christian cheated death by a hairbreadth, the bullet grazing his neck and leaving a scratch. His other son, 20-year-old Hendrich Joseph, sustained a contusion on the head.

Police investigators suspect the incident was a robbery attempt.

Dacpano, however, said they are not discounting other possibilities. "It could be work or business-related. We are conducting an in-depth investigation on the matter," Dacpano added.

Narra is the manager of the Philippine National Bank (PNB) Alaminos City branch.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. in Barangay Bolaney. The Narra family was about to have dinner when four unidentified men barged into the Narra residence through the back door and announced that they want money.

One of the unidentified men then shot Rowel.

Aside from the attaché case handed to the suspects by Narra's wife, the perpetrators got P1,000 cash and a cellular phone.

Narra was rushed by his family to the Alaminos Doctors Hospital but the attending physicians declared him dead on arrival. (Sunnex)
