Bishop's kin admits to 'stealing' religious icon (10:20 a.m.)
By Nicolas C. Delfin

BACOLOD CITY -- A "relative" of Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra has admitted to being involved in the theft of some icons from the San Antonio Abad church in Barangay Taculing.

Jack Navarra, who claims that his father Apolinario is the Bishop's younger brother, clarified though that his involvement is only limited to selling the religious items at an antique shop.

He gets half of the amount paid for the value of the items.

Bishop Navarra could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday. A secretary and a security guard both said the bishop was on retreat.

Jack told police investigators that a priest is also into selling some church icons. Probers refused to name him, but a follow-up investigation is being conducted. (Sun.Star Bacolod)
