2 terrorists headed for Manila to stage attacks: military (4:30 p.m.)
MANILA -- Military intelligence agents are tracking down two bombers trained by the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and the Abu Sayyaf who are reportedly planning to stage attacks in populated areas in the National Capital Region (NCR), a ranking military official said on Monday.
The Armed Forces NCR Command (NCRcom) described the two bombers as members of the Rajah Sulayman Islamic Movement (RSIM), a group of Muslim converts.
The command said the two are also "probably" involved in past bombings.
NCRcom commander Ben Dolorfino said they are focusing their intelligence resources on the two personalities "who have capability to prepare bombs."
He said the two are most likely seeking refuge "in the neighboring provinces." (VR/Sunnex) |
