US, RP Marines distribute wanted JI, Sayyaf posters By Lino Dela Cruz Iligan Correspondent
MARAWI CITY -- The US Army and the Philippine Marines distributed posters of wanted Jemaah Islamiya (JI) and Abu Sayyaf terrorists here and announced that there are cash rewards awaiting those who can give information leading to their capture.
More than a thousand beneficiaries of the joint medical and dental civic action program held Sunday at the government's Amai Pakpak hospital listened to US and Filipino soldiers recount terror acts of wanted Abu Sayyaf leader Khadaffy Janjalani and Jainal Sali and JI leaders Dulmatin and Omar Patek.
Government forces are hunting down the terrorists, the military officials said.
Colored posters of the wanted terrorists and books on peace with colored illustrations were distributed to spectators who were told that there is a P250,000 cash reward for information on each of the wanted terrorists.
Dulmatin and Patek are believed to be hiding in some Moro rebel sanctuary in Mindanao while Sali is believed to be in Sulu.
"We are here to promote peace and stability and we want this region to be secure," said Captain Scott Roney, leader of the US Army soldiers.
Amai Pakpak hospital, which is the oldest government-run hospital servicing the medical needs of patients of Marawi and the province of Lanao del Sur, was recently razed to the ground by fire.
Hospital personnel, nevertheless, continue to provide basic health services to outpatients in makeshift structures.
US ambassador Kristie Kenney, during her recent visit here, promised to give assistance for the rehabilitation of the hospital.
Jon Lindborg, United States Agency for International Development (USAid) mission director, said the biggest part of the agency's program is its health services component.
The joint medical-dental civic action boosted the morale of medical workers and patients who received free medicines while hospital beds were given to the hospital. (Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
