Police in pursuit of kidnappers of Manila student By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
BAGUIO CITY -- Police are tracking down three men who allegedly abducted a girl in Manila and who imprisoned her in a warehouse in La Trinidad, Benguet over the weekend.
The victim, who managed to escape her captors on Saturday, is now under heavy police protection in a Baguio hospital along with her parents who just arrived from Manila.
Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City police, said the victim is a 17-year-old college student from the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
"We just had a meeting with the different team leaders awhile ago and we are still trying to determine the motive behind her (victim) kidnapping. Although she was not raped, she is still very weak and under trauma due to her ordeal so we decided to allow her to rest in the meantime," said Guevarra.
He said the Baguio police and other police units are conducting follow-up operations on the case.
A report said the victim was abducted by three still unidentified men in front of the UST campus in Sampaloc, Manila last October 27. She was brought to Baguio City and then to La Trinidad, Benguet where they locked her up in an undisclosed warehouse.
During her escape from her kidnappers, the victim said she boarded a jeepney, alighted along Bokawkan Road, and sought the help of a woman who immediately called up the police. Responding policemen brought the girl to a Baguio hospital.
The victim's mother confirmed to the police that her daughter was abducted in Manila. (Sun.Star Baguio/Sunnex)
