RP's Alcano wins World Pool Championship
MANILA (Updated 8:11 p.m.) -- Filipino Ronnie Alcano wins the 2006 World Pool Championship final Sunday at the PICC in Manila.
Alcano beat German Ralf Souquet in the race to 17 for the pool's top prize, clinching the tournament's biggest prize of $100,000.
Alcano dumped out tournament favorite Wu Chia-ching and looked good disposing surprise semi-finalist Li He-wen of China. He also claimed the 4th Sun.Star SuperBalita Class A crown in 2005 in Cebu City.
Souquet is 1996 WPC Champion. He had a Taiwanese double as he beat Liu Cheng-chuan 11-8 and then came through a thriller defeating Fu Che-wei in a hill-hill affair. (Sunnex)
