Army brigade chief axed for cockfight betting By Ben O. Tesiorna
DAVAO CITY -- A high-ranking Army official was relieved from his post after he was allegedly caught betting inside a cockpit in Tacurong City.
Relieved as commander of the Army's 604th Brigade was Colonel Felipe Tabas.

Lieutenant General Romeo Tolentino, Army chief, said Tabas has been placed under the Army Provost Marshal inquiry.
Tabas's relief came after he was caught leaving a cockpit in Tacurong with his winnings.
He was reportedly photographed while he was coming out of the cockpit.
But a military officer who requested anonymity said Tabas was inside the cockpit upon the invitation of South Cotabato Representative Arthur Pinggoy and was not betting.
The Philippine Army earlier said the Army Board of Senior Officers (Boso), after a periodic assessment of personnel, recommended the relief of Tabas, saying he "fell short" of expectations.
Tabas is now in Fort Bonifacio while undergoing investigation.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy's (PMA) 1976 class, Tabas served as chief of the defunct AFP Logistics Command, which was abolished in 2005 on allegations of corruption. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
