Guardians group distances from raps faced by ex-senator (5:50 p.m.)

THE rightist group that captured former senator Gregorio Honasan has distanced itself from the criminal cases that he is facing.

In a telephone interview, Proceso Maligalig, chairman of the Rebolusyonaryong Alyansang Makabansa (RAM), which was involved in a series of failed coups against the Aquino government in the late 1980s, has nothing to do with the cases of Honasan.

“We have nothing to do with whatever he is accused of. We just wish him well. He has been a senator, he knows the law so he has to face the charges,” said Maligalig, who heads the government-sequestered Bataan Shipyard Engineering Corporation. (Sunnex)
