Makati mayor hits back at nemesis, files 2nd libel suit (5:40 p.m.)

MANILA - Saying that he has had enough of the "antics" of his political foes, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay on Thursday filed another libel complaint against former vice mayor Roberto Brillante before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office.

Binay said aside from making "utterly contemptuous" remarks against the justices of the Court of Appeals (CA), Brilliante also "maliciously imputed" derogatory statements against him when the erstwhile city official alleged that he (Binay) bribed the CA justices with P30 million to dismiss the P110 million graft case against him last October 30.

"We had had enough of his baseless accusations and I think it's time to put things in their proper perspective," Binay told reporters outside the prosecutor's office. (Sunnex)
