Adequate power supply for Asean summit assured (2:33 p.m.)

MANILA -- The National Transmission Corporation (Transco) said it has "tripled" its security and contingency measures to ensure that there would be no power interruptions during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meet next month in Cebu.

Transco president Arthur Aguilar said they started “checking and rechecking everything”, especially with the temporary shutdown of the Malampaya natural gas pipeline starting Saturday until December 12.

He said a task force headed by Crispin Lamayan in Cebu has been created to guarantee that the supply of electricity would be maintained while the leaders of 10 Southeast Asian countries meet next month to map out development plans for the region. (MSN/Sunnex)
