Honasan protests detention in police camp (4:30 p.m.)

MANILA -- Former senator Gregorio Honasan on Saturday asked his lawyer to question the decision of the PNP to detain him in Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta Rosa town in Laguna last Friday, shortly after his discharge from a hospital.

Honasan's lawyer, Danilo Gutierrez, said his client has ordered him to contest the issue before the Makati City Regional Trial Court on Tuesday, which is trying him for coup d'etat in connection with the short-lived Oakwood mutiny in July 2003.

It will be the first time Honasan will meet with the 31 officers and men of the Magdalo Group, which he supposedly instigated into mounting the uprising over alleged corruption in government, since the staging mutiny. (Sunnex)
