Palace elated by employment hike (9:39 p.m.)

MALACAŅANG on Saturday said the increase the number of jobs showed that government is successful in attracting investments into the country.

The Palace was reacting to the statement of the labor department that local employment rose by 310,000, from 32.875 million in October to 32.875 million in October this year.

Labor Secretary Arturo Brion, citing the Labor Force Survey of the National Statistic Office (NSO), said the increase in nationwide employment from 92.6 percent in October last year to 92.7 percent in October this year, reduced the unemployment rate from 7.4 percent to 7.3 percent. (JMR/Sunnex)
