Missing bank notes recovered in abandoned lot By Liway C. Manantan-Yparraguirre
DAGUPAN CITY -- It will take several days more before court employees in Regions 2 and 3 will receive their salaries for December 15.
Their checks and other mail matters contained in boxes that were on board a hijacked mail van were found dumped on the farm of City Councilor Luis Chito Samson in Bonuan Binloc.

Employees of the Philippine Postal Corporation-Dagupan led by Senior Postal Service Officer Diosdado Garcia, together with the Dagupan City policemen, painstakingly conducted an inventory of the recovered items on Thursday.
After the inventory, the report will be turned over to higher authorities, Garcia said. And after receiving the go-signal from the higher-ups, the mail matters will be turned over to the regions where they were intended.
Superintendent Edgar Basbas, city police chief, said they received a report from Samson about at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday that two boxes were allegedly dumped at the area by unidentified persons on board a van at about 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The boxes contained hundreds of negotiable instruments (or checks), registered letters, and grocery items. Three more sacks of opened envelopes containing checks were also found.
Garcia said the checks have no use to the people who tried to run away with them.
He said it was the first time that such incident happened in the province.
"The van containing the mail matters came from Manila. Definitely, something happened along the way but this is yet subject to verification if an incident was reported about a hijacked postal van," he said. (Sunnex)
