P144-M illegal drugs seized in Cordillera By Ernie N Olson Jr.
BAGUIO CITY -- Over P144-million worth of assorted illegal drugs were either confiscated or destroyed within the Cordillera from January 1 up to December 22, 2006.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Director for Cordillera Oliver Enmodias said this resulted to the arrest of 75 suspected pushers, users and transporters, and the positive identification of three others who are still reportedly at large.

Bulk of illegal drugs eradicated was the estimated 509,954 fully-grown marijuana plants with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P101,990,800; followed by 1,005,789.4 kilograms of dried marijuana worth P25,144,735; approximately 270,500 half-grown seedlings of the same cannabis sativa hemp plants amounting to P10,820,000; 3,050 grams of hashish or concentrated marijuana resin costing P762,500; 210,500 kilograms of marijuana seeds valued at P5,262,500; and 108.52 grams of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride worth P217,040; for a total haul of P144,197,575.
Enmodias said the illegal drugs and suspects were hauled during 32 buy-bust operations, one warranted search, 11 marijuana eradication operations, 11 checkpoint operations, one call for police response and four aborted drug deliveries. (Sun.Star Baguio/Sunnex)
