Board member hits Pampanga 'poor' health services By Reynaldo G. Navales
MAGALANG -- Pampanga Second District Board Member Lilia "Baby" Pineda criticized the Provincial Government for its alleged failure to deliver basic services, especially health, to the people.
Pineda said the province has "neglected its duty to provide health services to Pampanga residents" in a consultation meeting with town and barangay officials headed by Mayor Pastor Guiao.

Pineda's gubernatorial bid was discussed during the meeting.
Vice Governor Joseller "Yeng" Guiao helped the board member initiate the assembly.
Pineda claimed that Governor Mark Lapid failed to initiate even a single meeting with the heads of provincial hospitals.
But provincial officials said Pineda's allegations regarding health services in Pampanga are baseless.
Provincial Information Officer Minerva Zamora-Arceo said based on the governor's annual executive report, the Provincial Government earmarked P126 million for the operation and maintenance of the 11 public hospitals in the province.
She said the governor prioritized public hospitals in the province's budget. She said the Provincial Government maintains one provincial and 10 district hospitals.
The province, she said, also spends P250,000 a month for the subsidy or financial assistance to hospital bills of indigent patients at the Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital. She added that at least 330 patients are being assisted with financial aids ranging from P500 to 10,000.
She said the province also effected the construction of new buildings at the Diosdado Macapagal Provincial Hospital (DMPH) in Guagua town.
Many town and barangay leaders in this municipality, meanwhile, expressed support to Pineda's gubernatorial bid as well as to Guiao's plan to run for congressman in the first district of Pampanga.
For his part, Guiao thanked the board member for taking the cudgels in working for a change in the leadership of the province. He said the crusade started when he exposed the alleged irregularity in the quarry collection. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
