2 dead, 250-T lost in pre-dawn blaze
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Two persons were burned alive while around P250,000 worth of property was damaged after a fire struck a building compound in Zone 7, Acacia Extension in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City at 3:00 a.m. Thursday.
According to reports from the Cagayan de Oro Fire Station, faulty electrical wiring found in one of the rooms of the owner, Felicilda Talampas, resulted in a spark that caused flames to spread throughout the two-floor building.

Gilbert Barsuela, 27, a resident of Bicol and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Emma Sagario, were burned beyond recognition while staying at the top floor of the building.
Firefighters said the fire spread throughout the building since it was made of light materials though the fence prevented the blaze from spreading outside.
The room where the fire originated was padlocked since Talampas is said to be on vacation in the US. Talampas left the care of the building to his grandson.
About four families and scores of boarders consisting of workers and students managed to escape the blaze unharmed.
Sagario was reportedly identified by her mother not long after the blaze. Her remains and that of Barsuela are now at the Bollozos funeral homes.
Sagario, a resident of Purok 12, Sitio Katipunan, Barangay Hinaplanon in Iligan City, was said to be waiting for the bar exam results with Barsuela and started renting the room last December.
Neighbors said they heard the two shout for help at the onset of the fire but firefighters had a hard time locating their area, which is at the farthest corner of Acacia extension.
Some cars parked along the way also prevented the firefighters from arriving on the scene early. By the time the firefighters made their way through, the fire ate up most of the building.
The Carmen fire came a day after a chemical plant in lower Jasaan town in Misamis Oriental exploded, critically injuring four workers.
The Resins Chemicals Inc. plant in Jasaan town exploded after an electrical spark blew up a chemicals tank, which is already being mixed at the time of the explosion.
The employees, two of whom were identified as Oliver Raiz and Apolinar Teves, were transferred from a municipal hospital in Jasaan to the Polymedic Center in Tagoloan town Thursday.
The explosion was the fourth to occur in the plant.
Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno ordered an investigation into the incident. (Johnny Agustin of Sun.Star SuperBalita/With a report from Stephen Capillas of Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
