The search warrants were issued by Judge Rolando Mislang of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 42 in Dagupan City.

Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. commended the members of the raiding team for the "resounding success" of the operations.

"I have long asked the regional police for this kind of effort. This is a strong message not only to the drug pushers but also to drug users in Urdaneta City and all over Pangasinan that our policemen are not sleeping. That they are really bent in minimizing if not eradicating illegal drugs here and all over the province," he said.

The six simultaneous raids were led by Superintendent Rolando Magno of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Senior Superintendent Alejandro Valerio of the Region 1 Police Office Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, and Superintendent Paquito Navarette, Urdaneta City police chief.

The members of the raiding teams came from the Pangasinan Anti-Illegal Special Operations Task Group, Region 1 Intelligence and Investigation branches, and from the 107 Provincial Mobile Group in Pangasinan.

The respondents of the search warrants were Manan Sultan, Animao Badron, Mohammad Ali and his wife Nora Sultan, Banisel and Kalifa de Leon, Hadji Omar Salumabao, alyas Rokhma, and Jun, and Omar Baguan.

Only the raids at the houses of Salumabao and Baguan yielded negative results.

The raiding teams confiscated several transparent sachets containing suspected shabu, shabu paraphernalia and cash money.

Perez said charges of violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act will be filed against those whose houses yielded illegal drugs and bullets.

"Starting tonight and even during daytime, I am asking the local police to put up a checkpoint in that area to deter the continued operation or selling of drugs there," Perez also said. (LCMY/Sunnex)
