2006 nursing graduates must retake exams: official
MANILA -- Chief presidential legal counsel Sergio Antonio Apostol said 2006 nursing graduates who are bent on going to the US have no other recourse but to retake the nursing exams.
Apostol issued the statement following the decision of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) to deny screening visas to 2006 nursing graduates because of the leakage in the examinations.

"The option actually will depend on the individual. If they want to go to the US as nurses, they must get the visa, and for them to get the visa, they should take the exam and pass the exam. Otherwise, they can live and work somewhere else," he said.
He said it is not necessary to issue an executive order directing all nurses who took last year's exams to undergo a retake because Labor Secretary Arturo Brion only has to talk to the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) and fix the date for the examination.
"There is no need for the Palace's intervention. He (Brion) is already given authority. So all he has to do is to talk with PRC officials and then set the date for exams," he said.
"We are fond of reconsideration. We are fond of that. But that is a rule in the US. If you want to go the US, you follow their rule. If you do not want, never mind," he added. (JMR/Sunnex)
