Jailed Misuari flown to Sulu, files candidacy By Bong Garcia
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Jailed Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari filed on Tuesday his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor in the island province of Sulu.
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) assistant election officer Vidzfar Juli, who is also the Sulu election supervisor, said Misuari filed his COC around 9:30 a.m. in his office in Jolo, the province's capital.

Misuari is a former governor of the autonomous region.
Juli said Misuari was accompanied by his running mate, Sulu Electric Cooperative former manager Del Tulawie.
Three other politicians, who are running with Misuari's group, also filed their COCs for Provincial Board seats, according to Juli.
However, Juli said Misuari doesn't have a political party nomination yet when he, his running mate, and three others filed their COCs.
It was not also known as to when Misuari would be able to complete his provincial level slate since Sulu province consists of two congressional districts with eight PB seats.
Misuari traveled to Sulu via Zamboanga City under heavy guard. He was not allowed by the court to issue any statement to the media during his travel from Manila to Sulu and vice-versa.
He is on house arrest for the rebellion charges filed against him in court in connection with the 2001 uprising he allegedly led that killed several people in Jolo, Sulu.
Misuari served as the third governor of the Armm before he was arrested in Malaysia for allegedly leading the uprising.
Juli said a three-cornered fight is looming in the gubernatorial race in Sulu province.
Aside from Misuari, he said, incumbent Governor Benjamin Loong already filed his COC last week.
Juli said his office received advance information that former Sulu governor Abdusakur Tan is filing his COC on March 26, 2007.
The Province of Sulu, which is composed of 18 towns, has 250,409 registered voters, according to Juli. (Sunnex)
