The report quoted Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ernesto de Leon as
saying it will be the first time a Philippine president visited Australia after 12 years.
No details of activities or agenda to be taken up in the prospective visit were immediately available, according to the dzEC report.
But it said President Arroyo is likely to take up cooperation between the Philippines and Australia against terrorism, especially with the suspected masterminds in the 2002 Bali bombing suspected to be hiding in the Philippines.
Also likely to be taken up are trade, tourism and job opportunities in Australia for the Filipino workers. (JMR/Sunnex)(April 7, 2007 issue) Write letter to the editor. Click here. Join the Sun.Star message board. Click here. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Zamboanga. |
