Voters' list totally cleaned up: poll body
MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday said it expects no unqualified voters as well as multiple and double registrants to be able to cast their votes in the mid-term elections this May 14.
Commissioner Rene Sarmiento told reporters that the poll body removed some one million voters from the list.

These include those found convicted by the court of a criminal offense, incompetent due to insanity, to have failed to vote in two preceding regular elections, to have lost their Filipino citizenship, to be double registrants, and excluded per court order or death.
Sarmiento said the information was from a report of the Elections and Barangay Affairs Department (EBAD) and the Information Technology Department (ITD) of the Comelec.
"As of today, our certified list of voters is 100 percent clean. This is the first time that we have cleansed the voters' list after so many years," Sarmiento said.
"This is a small effort we can be proud of as an institution," he added.
Sarmiento said the commission was able to weed out 1.130 million double and multiple registrants to come up with 45.5 million registered voters for the May 14 polls.
He said the National Capital Region (NCR) had the highest number of deleted unqualified voters at 73,430 while in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm), 6,059 were removed from the list. (MSN/Sunnex)
