Suspect in Resuello's slay nabbed
PANGASINAN -- One of the suspects in the killing of San Carlos City Mayor Julian Resuello and his security aide on Saturday has been arrested, police said Wednesday.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 Leopoldo Bataoil said Angelito Soriano was nabbed at the El Guerra Hospital in San Carlos City while recuperating from a gunshot wound inflicted by Resuello's security aides.

Bataoil said they learned of Soriano's whereabouts following a tip from an unnamed informant who said one of the suspects in the murder was confined at the hospital. He said Soriano was arrested after police intelligence verified his presence in the area.
According to Bataoil, one of the police escorts of Resuello, Jaime Almoite, confirmed to them that he traded fire with Soriano after he, together with two other gunmen, opened fire on the mayor. Almoite was wounded in the incident.
Soriano, along with Cesar de Guzman alias Kabesa and the still unidentified other gunman, was charged with double and multiple frustrated murder charges.
De Guzman matched the artist sketch of one of the gunmen in the killing of Resuello that police released last Tuesday.
The arrested suspect was one of the people injured during the shooting incident and who were brought to the Elguera Hospital. He was initially reported as a victim before Almoite pointed to him as one of the gunmen.
Bataoil said a paraffin test conducted by the PNP Scene of the Crime Operations (Soco) on Soriano's right hand found the suspect to be positive for gunpowder nitrates.
Resuello was shaking hands with his constituents at the jam-packed San Carlos City auditorium when the gunmen fired at them.
The mayor was seriously injured and taken to the St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City where he died last Monday. His civilian aide, Jojo Martinez, also died in the incident.
On Monday, Bataoil announced that concerned citizens have offered a P300,000 reward for the capture of certain "Kabesa," who had been identified by witnesses as among the armed men who attacked the mayor.
He said the bounty had been raised to P500,000 as of Tuesday but did not say who provided the additional P200,000. (VR/LCMY/Sunnex)
